I went to visit Heaven Hills and was intrigued by this bottle although I had not had the chance to taste it before. But since you can only buy it there, I figured it should be worth it. The color is an amber/copperish color with thick legs and medium body. It feels like medium body in the palate as well, but not too old. On the nose is very sweet at first. Notes of vanilla, mapple syrup and sweet cream are strong. Corn, grain and cereal are present as well. The second prevalent is spices. Nutmeg and black pepper are there and some hints of cloves. There’s also pine wood aroma and a small hint of apple pie. The palate comes stronger on spices, like cinnamon, pepper and more pine wood. You get less of the sweetness, but still creamy vanilla and more toasted corn. Overall is a good dram and I don’t regret buying it. Slainte Mhath!
Five Brothers Bourbon
About this bottle
This release coincides with the 2021 re-opening of the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience. This is a small batch blending of five different ages of bourbon that pays tribute to the five Shapira brothers who founded the distillery in 1935. The bourbon is made with Heaven Hill’s traditional bourbon mash bill, then aged between five to nine years to represent each founding brother. It is bottled at 90 proof, which was the proof of the bourbons released from the distillery in the 1930s. The expression is sold exclusively at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience and select Kentucky retailers beginning June, 2021.

NOSE Oak, baking spice, roasted nuts, vanilla, caramel, dried dark fruit, dried apples, cocoa and some notes of copper and hay. The similarities between this and the EW 1783 are undeniable, but this carries more oak and more of that dark heaviness. PALATE Oak, peanut brittle, baking spice, vanilla, citrus peels, dried dark fruit, dried apples, cocoa and some notes of copper and hay. A bit more fruity than I was expecting, but not at all distracting or overpowering. Quite the opposite, the notes work very well in this Five Brothers Bourbon. FINISH Med-long -. Peanut brittle, oak, fruit, char and some copper on the fade.
I bought this at the Heaven Hill distillery and was told that was the only place you could buy it. It’s just 90 proof but has great flavor. Nice nose of caramel and vanilla that come through with a decent finish for the proof. Good bourbon overall and might be a good beginner sipper as well.
Jus picked this up at Heaven Hill in Bardstown. Onky available in KY. Picey butvworth it. Great sipper to share with friends and a god cigar. Cherry Honey and apple is what i get. Nice finish with a mild butcspicy oak.
Fruit, grain, and nutmeg on the nose. Palate is light with cinnamon and green apple. Finish is interesting. Flavor fades and gives way to a light spice that sticks in the back of your throat.
Very spicy and thin. Nutty flavor up front with a burn at the too of the throat. Favor goes away super quickly.
