It smells like butterscotch with red fruits like cherry and blackberry. The palate is sufficiently mild with some flavors going on, but not a ton of harshness and (surprisingly) not an excess of sweetness. There's a lot of caramel and butterscotch, but it's also drying with some earth and smoke. It's a bit on the weak and sweet side, but not overly so. It's woody without being aggressively tannic. It has some vanilla notes that come through prominently too. It reminds me a bit of Delord 25, but it isn't quite as good. Still, it's a decent enough sipper. Blackberry and a lite cherry do come through. It's not obviously a rum at all, though there is a tad of firework mixed in with the butterscotch. The generic woody flavor is a bit drying, but not excessive. Overall, it's balanced and a solid enough sipper, but it doesn't have any stand-out flavors to being it to greatness and it has some rough edges. Some mild, sweet nuttiness does come out and thankfully isn't not very bitter. There is some cocoa in here that explains the bit of firework flavor that does appear somewhat. The spices don't include much cinnamon, but do include pepper and a little clove. It's reasonably rich and hedonistic, but is kind of weak and isn't terribly special.

After letting sit for 20 minutes, to let initial alcohol drift away, taste is sweet but not sugary sweet. More berry sweet, from the Zin barrels? Strawberries, raspberries and raisins. With some vanilla and brown sugar. The finish is all oak with spice, in a good way, from the bourbon barrels I’m guessing. This is delicious and at 96 proof, perfect sipping rum. Think I just found my new favorite rum!
11 YR old. The nose reeks of various fruit notes from the Barbados Rum and the Zinfandel Cask. What a bouquet!! The wine finish is very well balanced with the rum! The mouth feel is rich from the wine finish, and the palate follows through on the nose with a long finish. An outstanding rum and very well finished!! My score was 94
Think about the 2004 or 2005 (which I’ve yet to try). Add a layer of berries and cherries, you’ve got another great expression by foursquare.
really nice, rich brown sugar and butterscotch round out bright berries with a spiced oaky finish
Rather sharp taste for the money -it somehow reminds me of the Malecón 12yrs old.
