Elegant and richly appointed nose of deep corn whiskey spirit enrobed in lovely oak and char. A lot of vanilla beckons, along with baking spice and caramel cream. On the tongue, it hits gently, with a soft, yet expressive approach. A lot of high notes, tethered to a flavorful mid-range. The flavors here are ethereal and come and go at will, with fleeting moments of toffee, sweet tobacco, roasted corn, brown bread and a touch of salinity. The body is mild, while the finish is medium-long. A fine release that is remarkably affordable for a bourbon of its age.
About this bottle
Dickel Bourbon was first introduced in 2021 as a permanent 8 year offering to the brand's portfolio in order to showcase whiskeys made at the distillery that had more of a bourbon profile. Here, this 18 year bottling is a limited edition small batch bourbon which was aged in charred oak barrels at Cascade Hollow's single-story rickhouses. The mash bill recipe remains the classic 85% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley. Availability begins in select US markets beginning November 2023. (SRP $510)
