Nose - strong on the honey, subtle flower petals, pineapple, orange peels, I find something new each dram which is quite fun Taste - smooth on the palate, added H2O and it really brings out the flavor, apricots, honey Finish - sweet, lasts for a moment and fills the mouth with an explosion of honey but leaves very quickly, it ends with an almost long draw of sweetness that keeps fading, slight burn on the nostrils as I exhale Score - 3.75, after tasting with and without H2O, I would advise adding a drop or two Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate
About this bottle
Glen Grant 12 debuted in a handful of U.S. markets in June 2016, with a nationwide release slated for 2017. The release was made partially in honor of the 55 years that master distiller Dennis Malcolm has spent in the industry. It's also said to show off the unique-to-Speyside Glen Grant process, with water-cooling purifiers used on both of the distillation runs, allowing only the lightest vapors through. An 18 year-old is being rolled out as well, along with revamped labeling and logos for the entire portfolio.

Pale yellow with thick legs. The aroma is a very pronounced apple skin tartness, that quickly dovetails into vanilla and coffee creamer. Toasted wheat bread. There is a sherry sweetness with a touch of sugary cherry. There is a lingering flowery lavender/perfume at the tail end of the sniff. The taste is tart apple pie with a dusting of nutmeg. Caramel and toffee. Lemondrop tartness and lemongrass. There is a sherry again, but this time it's tannic and metallic, like a jar of pennies. The finish is brown sugar sweetness with a dollop of caramel. Vanilla pipe tobacco. More metallic tannins. Tart cherry and spicy sugarplums. Just a hint of citrus peel. GlenGrant 12 is a lovely, sweet (but not too sweet) concoction that balances soft, sugary elements with sharper tart and metallic counterpoints.
This may be my least favorite bottle of scotch I’ve purchased. Still beats most bourbons, but I’d rather go for Glen Livet 12 or GlenMorangie 10 at the price point. Looking for my daily sipper. Nose: Vanilla, orange zest, clove, astringent. Taste: Green apples. Vanilla, very thin and dry hay. Tiny bit of chocolate and spice which is nice but I can’t get past the hay. Aftertaste: Hay. Pine sap. Sulphuric. What am i supposed to do with the rest of this bottle? I’ve tried it neat, with a splash of water & over ice to no avail. If you live in MN & happen to like this, I have a present for you.
Nose: crisp orchard fruits of apple and pear that are lightly baked with a touch of sugar and spice, some slightly darker fruits, hint of cherry, stone fruit, golden raisins, honey, hint of vanilla, lemon peel, light floral note, light flaky buttery crust. Taste: apple, pear, cherry, honey, malt, floral grassy note, lemony citrus zest, light oiliness that coats just a touch, a little nuttiness, white peppery spice that lingers for a moment, a touch of barrel char. Not bad at all. Fairly friendly dram that’s quite enjoyable. Great, considering the price point. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
Floral nose with pears, vanilla and a hint of lemon. It smells fresh and delicious. After a while I get apple and watermelon candy. Round taste with a slight bitterness, like citrus peel. Warm honey, apples, and again that watermelon candy. Lemon peel and honey on the aftertaste, very satisfying length. All in all a classic bourbon barrel aged scotch at a very fair price point and a good abv. I found it weird and disappointing immediately after opening it, but after 1 week or so it got good.
43% vol Nose: baked apples, fruits, honey, floral, nuttiness, wet wood Palate: dry, spices at start on tongue, nut shell, fruit sweetness, malt. Finish: light, caramel/honey sweetness, fruit pastry. Received this bottle as a present and was pleasantly surprised by it's high quality and excellent tasting experience. Clean and balanced. And love the 43% vol Such a wonderful find! True hidden gem. Can't find what cask types were used but by the taste I assuming it's ex-bourbon.
