Pale gold color. Droplets on the inside of the glass like raindrops on the window. The nose is sweet vanilla frosting and red apple skins. Sherry that manifests itself like pennies and (sorry) blood. Black licorice. Butterscotch. Sandalwood. The taste vanilla cake frosting and coffee creamer. A tart, puckery lemon drop, with a citrus spice. Some ripe red apple. Sherry tannins. An interesting herbal quality, though I can't pick out which herb. Unexpected dried apricot and honeydew melon. The finish is fresh tobacco with a lingering cigar burn right in the front. Black licorice, star anise. More of that metallic, tannic linger, reminiscent of a jar of pennies. Some bitter perfume and flowers. Sandalwood and cedar. This is a very soft, pleasant, friendly Irish whiskey that is surprisingly complex. It introduces a lot of sweet, puckery flavors at the start, and then finished with a slightly smoky and woody residue at the end.

Ha'Penny Irish Whisky (Four Cask Blend) 43% abv, no age, minimum is 3 years. Four different casks used. Non-Chill filtered, produced by Pearse-Lyon. 68% grain 32% single malts. Aroma: oak and a very light herbal note Taste: Moderate oak, light herbal notes similar to gin, a nice lingering finish. Grainy. Very smooth and a solid dram. It was a year ago since I tried this so I can not recall the spice and sweetness levels, of which I did not write down in my notes. I definitely would try again and would say it is worth a taste. I remember this being an enjoyable and tasty whisky. Cost: $29.95 plus tax for a 750 ml Grade: B

The vanilla shortbread of the Irish and slight brown sugar of the bourbon blend with the honey & sherry notes for a soft sweet sipper.
Char, oats, and soft cocktail bitters nose. Semi sweet cotton candy and barley.
Silky smooth. Good flavor combos coming from malt, grain and barrels.
