A very light pale straw color, almost white wine color that I assume is fake. As I understand it, this is the Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum from Worthy Park with less color additive to appease the mixologists. A molasses-based rum with sharp aromas of tall grass, fresh cut cane, powdered sugar, cement, lime ash, fresh banana peel, cilantro and oregano. On the palate, the viscosity builds sweeter, more honeyed textures, then cake frosting, apricot, kirschwasser, cacao, and lemon meringue. The finish is peppery and artificially sweet with a pleasant mix of teak and grass. This is a very divisive spirit, but unquestionably a very good one.
About this bottle
Selected and imported by MinistryOfRum.com founder Ed Hamilton, this gold rum is a blend of extra light, light, and heavy pot-still rums. The molasses used is from sugar grown on the Worthy Park Estate where the rum is distilled. Located 1,200 feet above sea level, the distillery is situated in the Vale of Lluidas, and produces mostly bulk rum. The rums for this product are imported in small batches and colored with gold tint sugar-based caramel.

This is an *excellent* rum for the price. Truly great stuff. As a blend it seems very lightly aged. Still got an underaged bite to it that burns a decent amount. With that burn comes some real complexity tho. Some really enchanting fruity notes here with subtle molasses/toffee complexity.
Not as funky as the black version, but still some solid Jamaican funk. Like other Hamiltons I’ve tried, this is made for mixing.

Strong banana aroma but mineral finish. I don't taste the fruit.
Takes an experienced drinker to really enjoy. Vey unique
