Hercules Mulligan Rum & Rye

If you’ve ever enjoyed a Rock & Rye, this is in a similar vein. Sweet, yet balanced with enough bitters to create an intriguingly penumbral flavor experience. The mix of rum and rye also achieves an interesting profile. Medium spicy rye spirit with a bread-like top note, is countered with warm, sweet and slightly oaky rum. Whilst all of this is happening, the whole affair is watched over by a lovely ginger heat. One sip, and you’ll want another. This is a great shot, neat pour or RTD served in a rocks glass with a few cubes of ice. We really enjoyed this new product and recommend it highly.

An intense, Flaviar Original Pre-mixed Cocktail made by blending American Rye Whiskeys with aged Caribbean Rum before adding macerated fresh organic ginger from Brooklyn & a dash of bespoke bitters before bottling at 43% ABV; with only 2,000 bottles in existence. It has an aromatic birth with notes of ginger, honey, bitters, spices, oak, vanilla, rye & exotic fruit zest; while a bold & complex life leads to a long & warm death. April 2021

I'm sorry, but I this combination is wildly different. The bottle is floral giving it scents of lavender, dry rosemary, then it transforms into warm ginger candy with baking spices of allspice, clove and vanilla. The taste continues the confusion. The first sip is reminiscent of fruit snacks or a fruit roll up. Overly sweet candy that borders on becoming a liqueur. Wouldn't go back for more.

It's a thick drink, it definitely needs some ice and some dilution. For fans of old fashioneds, this is awesome! This is one that I will most likely keep in my liquor cabinet at all times.

For what it is, it's okay. But you can easily just make a cocktail like this at home. The bitters are doing a lot of work here, and it's hard to taste the spirit in the body.

Albeit not technically a spirit, this is such a delicious medley of flavors. Tropical rum, honey and ginger, hint of rye and a smidge of bitters.
