About this bottle

Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish was launched in 2015 as part of the distillery's Loch Lomond Island Collection. This expression benefits from double-maturation, first in American white oak barrels, followed by extra finishing in casks that previously aged Madeira wine. This non-chill-filtered single malt carries no age statement and is bottled at 46% ABV.

Eh, not my favorite from Inchmurrin/Loch Lomond. The nose, for me, fell flat. The LL/Inchmurrin malt has a funk to it, and that's OK, but all I really got on the nose was that cheap tequila/wet cat vibe. Really did not prime me to like this. The mouth is significantly improved, with the kinds of things one would expect from a double maturation in a fortified wine cask - dried fruit, almond and marzipan, plus a bit of vanilla. But...that was about it. Nowhere near as interesting or engaging as the other Inchmurrins I've had.

A friend gave me a 5cl bottle stating extremely rare, sace for a special evening. Well ive had it a few yeara and wanted something new on a friday so here we are…. This whisky packs a serious burn, added a small tock to mellow out and see the results, got more dark cherry and oak notes along with plum and date flavors. Definitely needs a couple small cubes or a rock to release the depths of flavor. Still burned a bit but brought out the depth and completely bringing out plum, dark cherry, oak, date, and honey notes.

A rich, Single Malt Scotch Whisky, by the Loch Lomond Distillery in Highlands, Scotland first matured in American white oak barrels, followed by extra finishing in casks that used to hold fortified Madeira wine. It has a semi-sweet & nutty birth with notes of nutmeg & allspice; while a full & bold life adds more notes of nut, spices, new wood, peach, pear & dark fruits. that led to a rich & delicate death with notes of sugar & oak. Nosing: sweet blackcurrent with a mild mild sting of pepper. 2.75 Flavour: how do I describe this - lightning zest all around. Incredibly smooth and flavourful. Fruity zest with citrus playfulness and a mature oakiness is the main star. Very full flavour hitting every note on your palate. Grapes at the finish 4 Finish: fruits and raisins - no smoke but very pleasant 3

Similar in flavor to tyrconnell 16 but that Irish dram is both better and easier to find in NJ. This lacks the viscosity of the Irish dram and also has less complex flavor. It also has an unpleasant long super spicy finish. Not bad but as long as tyrconnell 16 is out there no need to drink this. Madeira maturation imparts beautiful flavors though.

Honey yellow/orange in the glass. Nose: stone fruit pits, oak. Taste: Fruits, oak, nuts. Finish: Madeira, dark fruits. I quite like this. Maybe not as good as the 12-year, but I'd happily have a bottle. If I had to pick, I'd probably still go with the 12, though.
