Nose: Darker flowers like violets and irises. Some tree fruits as well. Lots of oak and grain, not surprising from a grain blend! Palate: Fruity, seems like a mix of peach and apple. Very sweet and gentle. Some vanilla notes as well with some toasted almond coming through. Finish: Medium. More toasted almond and vanilla. Slightly less fruity but still there. A quiet goodbye as well; no burning. Final Thoughts: I’ve been excited to try this one since it was released. From what I understand, it’s the first blended blended grain whiskey from Ireland. JJ Corry bottles are pretty hard to find here in New York so I’m glad to finally have my second bottle and I absolutely love it. It’s very impressive from the start seeing as that blends are typically not my favorites. The flavor works beautifully and the whiskey is pure quality. If you can grab a bottle, do so. I’m on the hunt for every JJ Corry bottle there is, they make a phenomenal whiskey.

J.J. Corry 'The Hanson' Batch No. 2 Irish Whiskey is an outstanding, elegant, Irish Whiskey by Louise McGuane, founder of Chapel Gate Whiskey, in Ireland crafted with a blend of Irish Grain Whiskies pulled from just 3 casks by a pair of undisclosed Irish distilleries. 80% of the Spirit is 10-year-old Single Grain and 20% is 4-year-old Single Grain — both matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being bottled at 46% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, fruit, herbs & spices; while a rich life adds notes of Sponge cake, rum-raisin ice cream with chocolate sauce, vanilla flan, tiramisu, toasted granola clusters & peach cobbler; that led to a warm & dry death of medium length adding notes of soft oak tannins, Chai latte with honey & exotic fruits. Nose: citrus, chocolate, white cake, oak Palate: cane sugar, cereal, oak, vanilla Finish: hot With water: gets sweeter but develops a funk on the nose. Tames heat. Weirdly, ok on rocks. Best served neat, however. (Flaviar Advent Calendar)

I get baked goods on the nose - maybe oatmeal raisin? Turns into cake with the initial taste, transitions to peach and oak. Vanilla and cinnamon highlight the finish. A very pleasant Irish whisky. One I’d be proud to serve in my home bar.

Tastes like a sweet desert, birthday cake but with a sparkle, like champagne or Chardonnay. White wine flavors in with the sweetness. Definitely not flavors I've ever encountered with anything Irish, tastes almost Japanese. Intriguing.
