About this bottle

J.P. Wiser's 23 Year Cask Strength Blend celebrates Master Blender Dr. Don Livermore’s twenty-third anniversary at Hiram-Walker distillery. To mark the occasion, the J.P. Wiser's brand is releasing its first cask-strength whisky blend. The good doctor pulled individual casks of twenty-three-year-old rye and corn whisky, some of them at 50%, other at 70% then blended them. The final strength clocked in at 64.3%. Available in Canada and the US in limited quantities. This whisky is part of Corby’s 2019 Craft Rare Range Series.

Amazing stuff like the dissertation and 35 year. Rye spices a bit more out in front than corn whisky sweetness, leading to a spicy, balanced, and rounded dram with bourbon, rye, and rum like qualities. Nose: Vanilla, Caramel, Peaches, Root Beer, Candy Corn, Cherries, Bananas, Coconut, Honey, Dark Chocolate, Tobacco, Oranges, Almonds, Nutmeg, Molasses Palate: Vanilla, Pepper, Cloves, Molasses, Caramel, Oranges, Cherries, Peaches, Maple Syrup, Cola, Honey, Bananas, Tobacco, Leather, Pecans, Brown Sugar Finish: Vanilla, Oranges, Cherries, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Cinnamon, Brown Sugar

Pierre Benoit Gauthier 5.0

Truly outstanding nose, maple and caramel. The palate is luxurious and heavy with spice, cinnamon, and great touch of vanilla on the finish. Outstanding whisky that I feel is really worth the price.

abursey 4.3

For a high strength alcohol content, very smooth. Caramel with notes of rye’s telltale spice, yet very smooth with a burn at the end. Good sized finish. Great value for price.

whiskeybend 4.8

Huge body and viscous. Surprisingly drinkable for such a high abv. Lots of vanilla, maple, pepper, leather, stonefruit, orange, and tobacco. A chart topper.

coaster 4.5

This is the Stagg Jr. of Canadian whisky...there, I said it! It's got a great kick to it and a deep, sweet complexity that is unmatched in Canada IMO.

Denis Villeneuve 3.5

Nose: Hot cinnamon, oak, caramel, fruity - Apple Pallet: Cinnamon, brown sugar, Cinnabon bun, nutmeg, black pepper. Finish: Toffee, clean finish
