About this bottle

This Tennessee whiskey is the first 14 year-old expression in the brand's Aged Series. It's made with the same classic mash bill recipe as the others in the series as well as the flagship Old No. 7 expression (80% corn, 12% malted barley, 8% rye). After mellowing through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal, it's then aged in new, toasted and charred American white oak barrels. Initially, the barrels were placed in the upper floors of the barrelhouse before being relocated to lower racks to extend its maturation. Bottled at barrel strength, it's available in limited quantities across the US beginning February 2025. (SRP $149.99/700ml)

NEAT // $36 Pour NOSE - Bannana Laffy Taffy, Caramel, Honey, and Charred Oak PALATE - Dark, Rich, and Viscous. Loads of Caramel, Honey and Oak. FINISH - The finish goes on for days and is full of charred oak and bannana. BUY? - Yes, at MSRP or slightly over. $250 would probably be my cap. However, if you can find a Jack 12 from this year, I’d 100% get that over this if you were comparing based on secondary prices. Jack 12 is $200 on secondary as opposed to $400 and up for Jack 14. This is good whiskey and a steal at MSRP, but just doesn’t live up to the secondary value and the hype in my opinion. The Jack 12 (Batch 3) is one of the best whiskies I’ve ever tried.

Have the 10, 12, and now this beautiful 14 year. Cracking it tonight and trying neat. Notes of brown sugar, vanilla, clove, molasses, cinnamon, warm sugar & peanut butter cookies. Hot on the palate and with a lengthy finish. I’ll come back to this one and see what a few drops of water does for it.

Looneyhead 4.5

@twostal Nose of charcoal, caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate cake, cinnamon, butterscotch, maple syrup, orange peel, very light soy sauce, and cherry. Hot on the palate and spicy, with cherry, cinnamon, Grand Marnier, oak, char, apple, and bitter citrus peel. Spicy, peppery finish.

Barrel strength was surprisingly smooth to finish. 14 years definitely helps with the oak, caramel, and traditional Jack banana. But was very smooth and can’t go wrong with a free pour!
