Complex nose offers milk chocolate, cherry, nougat, fig, date, plum, burnt caramel, maple, nutmeg, and soft, sweet, toasted oak. Ethanol barely perceptible. A banger. Palate offers pipe tobacco, the milk chocolate, maple, and caramel from the nose, maraschino cherry, cola, toffee, marshmallow, and just the slightest hint of that good ol’ JD banana Runts candy. There’s also an umami note lurking underneath it all (soy sauce?) which brings distinctive flair. Surprisingly not getting vanilla but I don’t mind. Very complex and quite rich but I found myself wishing for maybe a few more proof points to give some added punch because the flavors are so good. Medium length finish brings tea leaf, leather, burnt brown sugar, barrel char, malt, and toasted oak, Interesting to not really be getting any heat or spice in the form of cinnamon and/or black pepper, which is present in so many other whiskeys. Unique. Mouthfeel is medium bodied but oh so silky. Added points for that. Marshmallow note lingers which is also awesome. Wow. This is hands down the best Jack Daniel’s product I have ever had. It’s less about whats here and more about what isn’t; a boring vanilla/caramel palate followed by a spicy baking spice finish (yawn) This goes off the beaten path in all the best ways. At $55.99 it’s…TAKE. MY. MONEY. Been a bit of a find in my area but if this remains readily available I will always have a bottle on hand.
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Tennessee Whiskey
About this bottle
Beginning in 2025, Heritage Barrel is now a permanent addition to Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Collection available year-round after first debuting in 2018 as a Special Release. Made with the classic Jack Daniel's mash bill recipe (80% corn, 12% malted barley, 8% rye), this is aged entirely in a heavily-toasted & lightly charred American oak barrel for at least 7 years. The whiskey enters the barrel at just 100 proof while the standard entry proof for Jack is 125 proof. After aging in some of the highest elevated barrel houses in Lynchburg, the whiskey is lightly-filtered and bottled at 100 proof. Available in the US beginning August 2025 with an international rollout to follow. (SRP $69.99)

BARREL ENTRY // 7.12.17 BOTTLING DATE // 8.4.25 BARREL No. // 25-04933 NEAT NOSE - Caramel, Toffee, Vanilla, and a fresh bag of Marshmallows PALATE - Sweet and decadent with a velvety mouthfeel. On the palate, there is sweet oak, caramel, and bannana. FINISH - Long and smooth. No burn whatsoever. BUY? - Yes. It is still characteristically Jack, but with so much more depth of flavor. It’s very welcoming. BUY AGAIN? - Without a question. I paid MSRP of $70 and I would not pay more than $80.
Smells nice, like other toasted whiskies: cinnamon-heavy banana bread, maple sugar, baking spices, and reminds me a bit of mulled wine (which I don't drink, so I don't know why). But the palate falls apart for me. There's some green banana I always get from Jack and a bit of the cinnamon banana bread, but it's dominated by a nail polish remover astringency that lingers and ruins it for me.
Barrel # 25-04115 7.7.17 wntry 7.18.25 bottle date. 8 year Nose: creamy marshmallow, slight citrris and hay. Corn as well Palette: sweet cola up front, sweet corn, some anose, but really steong cola flaovr. Mid has more texture and marshmallow, coffee. More coffee with caramel and vanilla in the finish that draws in some subtle tannins. Well rounded, smooth edges, very well done.
Nose: heavy oak and vanilla, a whisp of smoke on the end. Very classic and sweet Taste: Starts very light on the tongue, then rolls in HEAVY with oak, dark cherry, and vanilla. The barrel spice lights up the side of the tongue and then sits heavy on the palate Finish: toasty vanilla and strong oak provide a long and hearty finish
Nose: mellow, powdered sugar and slight banana. Palate: toasted caramel, sweet brown sugars, little Semi sweet chocolate. Threw me off from the standard jack profile but its amazing as all other jack products. Beat woodford DO and peerless DO in my blind
