A balanced 'Gin by William & Lucy Lowe of Cambridge Distillery in Cambridge, UK made using traditional Japanese ingredients, including Shiso Leaf (a type of herb used for seasoning & as a plate for wasabi), Sanshō (a spice with earthy qualities) & Yuzu (which has a similar flavor profile to lemon zest). It also features cucumber & sesame seeds, both frequently used in Japanese cooking, as well as the vital juniper berry. Each of these botanicals is individually distilled by hand, under vacuum, in tiny volumes before being blended together & then distilled at low temperatures to capture the freshest possible flavors. It has an aromatic birth with notes of pepper, zesty citrus, soft vegetals, sweet florals, cucumber & a hint of fresh ginger; while a rich & elegant life adds notes of dry spices, more clean cucumber berries & a hint of fresh peppermint; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of lemon pith & earthy/spicy juniper. About this bottle
While this expression is called "Japanese Gin," it's actually made at the Cambridge Distillery, a small family-run distillery in England. Rather, this expression gets its name from the traditional Japanese botanicals that are used in its production. 6 botanicals - juniper, shiso leaf, sesame seeds, cucumber, sanshō and yuzu - are each infused individually with the base spirit before being blended together to create the final product.
