About this bottle

At 92 proof and comprised of a blend of their 3 year old (60%), 4 year old (35%), and 5 year old (5%) single malts all produced at Kilchoman, this whisky is an insanely unique bottling that is allowing drinkers to see what barrel aging does to whisky over time. The malt is rested in ex-bourbon barrels before being vatted and finished in Oloroso Sherry butts for an additional 2 months.

It's an Islay Whisky.... what do you expect me to score? Beautiful expression, a typical islay profile with some interesting notes. The aftertaste is the best of this dram. 46%abv, pale straw color. On the nose: pepper, peat, rubber, smoke, hints of lemon, olives and.... socks, Lol (but true). On the palate, Grapes (nice nice nice note), pepper, english sauce, hard salt, spicy. Finish is mostly spicy and smoky. Very well crafted. Overall i give this Machir Bay, a baby islay dram, (kilchoman was born in 2005 or so) a proper 94 over 100. Slainte!

Nose: briny smoke, herbs, and little to no alcohol, everything you want from an Islay scotch Palate: salt and smoke start while quickly turning to a charcoal flavor reminiscent of a smoker that has some charred herbs left on the grate Finish: long and oily, it’s flavors stay with you as long as it takes the legs to run down the glass

From beginning of the nose, up until the aftertaste, you will get that surgery butter taste, not like movie buttered popcorn, but the kinda sugary butter you'd get from the buttered bread you get from Sizzler, if that makes any sense. That butter taste is what makes this whiskey unique, I definitely would buy another bottle.

Believe I had the 2019 version. The palate is bright while the finish is blown out by smoke. Overall a really pleasant whisky. N - brine, vanilla, apricot, citrus zest, loose leaf black tea T - honey, chocolate, clove spice, light mint F - smoke, slightly astringent, black pepper, light tobacco

Not sure if I have the correct year for this but purchased in 2019. what a fantastic whisky. I feared a strong bite because of its youth but was smooth as can be. light and smokey. it really opened up with some water and the smoke came forward in full force. fantastic value and would buy again
