Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye (Leo's Liquors and the Notorious JEG)

The nose is a wonderful mix of floral rye and charred oak, along with some citrus, vanilla, a bit of smoke and leather. It is quintessentially rye while giving you an indication of its higher proof. It is absolutely delightful to keep visiting and very inviting to take a sip. The palate is somewhat chewy and fills the mouth straight back to the corners, with rye spice, dark chocolate, fresh fruit, vanilla and a touch of brown sugar. It is wonderfully balanced and is a great offering of what a truly good rye should taste like. It is not overly complicated, what you get on the nose translates very nicely over to the palate. The wonderful mixture of floral and fruity notes really has this standout quite strongly. The finishes long and a bit spicy with rye remaining chewy, while fresh notes of dried flowers and citrus come together to stay swirling around the mouth for a truly wonderful experience.
