Color: Deep Bronze-Amber Nose: Strong nose of alcohol with barrel char and sweeter notes of leather and oak. I'm thinking that this nose will evolve with time and subsequent pours. Palate: (drank first pour neat) Moderately syrupy mouth feel; Big initial dose of spiciness and sweetness, followed by a chest hug that could melt the Grinch's icy heart! This definitely drinks per its proof... but overall, it's rather balanced. The chest hug sticks around. This stuff is very toasty, indeed. (drank second pour with a large ice ball) Similar Spicy-Sweet initial sips... I'm certain that there's "caramel" in there. Cinnamon, as well... yes, there's the cinnamon! As the ice continues melting further, "caramel" indeed comes around, and "Sweet" begins to overshadow the "Spice". Having had quite a few Bourbon brands and expressions, of various proofs — including some other Larceny batches — I gotta say, this is reminiscent of other high-proof batches I've had (Booker's, EC, etc.). Lots of char, spice, oak, and sweetness. Vague, yes... but I think you can catch my drift. Finish: Medium with barrel char and oak. Somewhat drying, I'd say. I wish I could put this stuff up against 2 or 3 other recent Larceny batches, to get a better read on each of them. But it's hard to hold onto each batch, as acquiring them takes time (takes me time, at least), and its months before I can locate the latest release. By then, the previous bottle has been killed. Looking back at my reviews of previous Larceny releases, the A124 impressed me. Not sure if this C924 is achieving the same notoriety, but I'm placing it on par with most other Larceny batches from my past. I actually bought this for around $10 less than the stated SRP. So what I had intended to score 4.0 stars, gets bumped-up per the value factor to 4.25 stars.

Larceny barrel proof plays a role in my life similar to Bookers. If I just happen upon a bottle at SRP, I'll usually snag it up. If nothing else, it'll be some good, potent sipping bourbon. That said, unsurprisingly C924 doesn't taste its proof in the least bit. The nose is classic high proof bourbon. Dark cocoa powder, charred oak, honey roasted nuts and spicy cinnamon. This whiskey carries with it an incredibly viscous mouthfeel. Dark cocoa powder, honey roasted nuts, caramel, baking spice, and some slightly tart raspberries all jump into the mix together and actually work harmoniously with one another. The finish is long, oily and lingering. It carries some drying spice and heat. Cinnamon, dark cocoa powder, leather and ethanol all end the tasting on a satisfyingly hot and complex note. Quite a tasty one, this. Actually: the standout quality here is just how viscous and mouth coating this bourbon actually tastes. With the bottling coming in at a fiery 125.1 proof, a little goes a long way. If you can find a bottle at RRP, these Larceny Barrel Proof releases always constitutes a screaming deal.

Kind of a subdued nose for this expression, but not a bad thing since they can sometimes run hot; peanut shell, wood shavings, blackberry(?), figgy pudding, chocolate fudge, and smoke. Some musty barn comes out as it warms. The ethanol is nicely dialed in (low). Palate offers toffee, cocoa powder, barrel char, caramel, tobacco, fig, and most enjoyably, various red fruits (red apple, cherry, pomegranate) Flavors rich and decadent. Long finish brings cinnamon, nutmeg, oak, black pepper, continued fruit notes from the palate, cola, dark chocolate, smoke, and leather. Mouthfeel is full bodied and unctuous. I hate to keep saying “this is the best LBP yet!” but it’s kind of like that. If the brand isn’t continuously getting better it’s definitely getting more consistently good. At $60 I paid for this at Total Wine, it’s about as good of a value as it gets.

Nose is rich and full of chocolate and roasted peanuts with a hint of cinnamon. Front of the pallet is predominantly chocolate with some some vanilla. As the pallet evolves I get the peanut note from the nose. The finish brings some notes of espresso. There is spice and heat that brings a drying quality to the finish that lingers for a long length.

Yeah this is real nice juice. Glad it’s getting the distro it properly deserves. Nice, spicy baking spoces on the nose, with a delicous and mild sweetness and smoothness on the pallet with a nice bite on the end. You can tell you’re sipping on quality stuff. I oberpaid ($83), but if I could get this for closer to $60, would be a definite buy

N: cocoa powder, oak, wheat, vanilla P: starts with a good blend of heat and sweet. Toasted oak, cinnamon, baking spices. Ends with some chocolate and brown sugar notes with a little smokiness. As it mellows I get some coffee. F: fairly smooth for a barrel proof. Heat warms the throat and lingers Very good
