Smooth but a little too light, with aromas of green apple, pear, dried fruits, light vanilla and caramel hidden in background. Easy drinking but too thin, subtle but not much complex, but still able to identify aromas discreetly. Short finish with little oak and wood aromas. Drink neat: a little too thin and lighter than my preference, also with short aftertaste. Drink through ice: more opened fruity aromas with a little more caramel, but still short aftertaste, so not enjoy much. Easier drinking when comparing to Hennessy VS, which is more aggressive and more oaky, this one is no-thinking-drinking and I thought it might pair well with Salmon Sashimi when chilled. My WOW part: when I mixed it with coffee! I brew Brazilian Americano (ice) + Martell VS (2:0.75 oz)... the result was amazing!! Brazilian coffee itself has a bold body with cocoa aroma, and mixed with caramel and vanilla aromas of Martell, made it more gentle, with vanilla as background. The aftertaste was increased (because this coffee bean has a very long finish) with cocoa wood aroma in the end. WOW!! For the price, it's a really fun cognac to try drinking with many things.
About this bottle
Launched in early 2017 across US markets from the House of Martell. This cognac is made from a blend of eaux-de-vie produced at one distillery which is not the norm. Its packaging in a ‘montre’ cognac bottle is a throwback to the original design of the brand's VS offering. Martell VS Single Distillery is bottled at 40% ABV.

Absolutely lovely smell of red berries, maraschino cherries and grapes. Can't sense much else but honestly it has such a fine aroma I'm not mad. Pleasantly sweet on the tongue without cloying, the taste almost reminds me of chocolate covered cherries followed by the berries from the smell. The expert Review identified the berry as raspberry but I'm not entirely sold I'd narrow it down to that. Towards the mid palate you can taste some nice French Vanilla taste. The finish is magnificent with a nice oak and spicy finish that lingers without being unpleasant. Great price point too!
Bursztynowa, może nawet ciemnobursztynowa barwa. Dość oleista struktura. N: 20 Dość przyjemny. Może odrobina słodyczy. Owoce, ale nie tak świeże. Czuć winogrona. Nuty kwiatowe. Bez. Następnie owocowe, już świeższe owoce sadu. Odrobinę wanilii i karmelu. J: 20 Lekko słodkawy. Owocowy. Kwiatowy. Winogrona. Rodzynki, ale bardziej kwaśne niż słodkie. Jednak więcej winogron. Nuty dębowej beczki. Szczypta przypraw. Biały pieprz. Lekka oleistość. F: 20 Słodycz. Owoce. Winogrona i rodzynki. Przyprawy. Biały pieprz. Wypalana beczka, goryczka. Gorzka czekolada. B: 20 T: 80
Fruit forward nose. Raspberry and black cherry. Smells like summer. Fruitiness continues on the palate. I get strong strawberry up front and a little bit of spicy cinnamon. Slightly buttery texture. Finish is fairly short but you're left with strawberry shortcake and vanilla cream. This is ridiculously good and I honestly feel like it benfits from the lack of oak aging in bringing out those delicious fruit flavours. That said, i cant wait to hopefully try the Cordon Bleu at some point.
Orange and floral notes on the nose. Surprisingly has quite a body considering it's VS. Caramel, oak, and hops on the palate. A little bit salty too, which reminds me of the Talisker for some reason (this one's not peaty) Sweet toffy finish which is very pleasant. Still has some rough alcohol tastes a little bit but I would believe if someone told me if this was VSOP.
Sparklingly-clear, copper, with defined alcohol legs. The aroma is of spiced rock candy, caramel, and fruit skins. The taste is of those elements, with added hot spices and a noticeable pear aspect. Mouthfeel is low medium, and Martell VS (now, Martell VS Single Distillery) finishes a bit lingering, but what lingers is pleasant. RJT
