About this bottle

The 2018 batch of 10 Year Single Barrel Rye will be made available shortly before July 4th. The barrels of rye were selected from Michter's stocks of aging whiskeys by Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson and approved by Master Distiller Pamela Heilmann. As is the case for Michter's whiskeys, this will be highly allocated and in limited availability due to high demand.

4.0 Stars - Excellent; 20 ml sample This is from a 2019 premium tasting at my local mom & pop liquor store. Rather than sell or raffle allocated bottles, they organized a tasting so the maximum number of people could try these gems. Aroma is oak and caramel. Taste is butter, oak, and some drying tannins that hit mid palate. Super well crafted bourbon. I have not tried to research where this was sourced. It shared some similarities with some really good Heaven Hill products. Also reminds me a little bit of Belle Meade cask strength.

Typical rye nose but with a sweetness. 0 spice or burn on the finish which is surprising for a rye. Definitely can see the “bourbon lovers rye” characterization. Very very sweet finish that is smooth with rich butter and caramel on the tongue. A real headscratcher with the mind. Is it a rye, is it a bourbon, is it a rye trying to be a bourbon???!!

whiskey whisky 3.3

The nose is fresh, clean, with spice and a hint of fingernail polish remover. On the palate, this definitely seems richer than the 2017 batch. The turpentine note carries over from the nose, but it's velvety and oily, with lots of spice, with black pepper kicking in at the end. Sweetness appears after a while. 2/22/19

This is an interesting rye which I would describe as a rye that isn’t a rye.

Fantastic rye. Strong oak aftertaste. Incredibly complex palette.

Smooth sweet with no after burn.
