About this bottle

Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash Whiskey begins with the brand's fully matured Sour Mash Whiskey--although not disclosed, this mash bill doesn't have enough corn to qualify as a bourbon nor enough rye to qualify as a rye. That whiskey is then placed into toasted barrels to mature further. The toast level for these secondary barrels was selected by Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. Available in the US and export markets as of September 2022, this is just the second time this whiskey has been released following its initial launch in 2019.

Tried neat. On the nares it’s very fruity with notes of apples, cherries, vanilla, oak, toast, toasted marshmallows, caramel, pecan pie, pecan pralines, white pepper, creme Brûlée, brown sugar mixed with butter straight out of the microwave, slight Himalayan salt. Super smooth on the palate with a warm kick on the back end. Delicious! Perfect bottle to crack open before thanksgiving dinner with @Looneyhead Also, I over paid because I REALLY wanted this bottle F it 🤣

Beautiful nose can detect maple, apples, toasted pecans, buttery crust which translates well into what you will taste. A bit of oak coming forward at first fading beautifully into the Apple and pecan pie. We paired with vanilla ice cream and it really brought forth a bright almost macintosh Apple taste. You will get a little sour coming through to almost like the Chinese pineapple orange sauce but only ever so slightly. Very tasty, highly enjoyed it!

Nose: peppery, floral, spicy, anise, small layer of fruit Palate: more pepper and dusty oak. Mild apples, rye spice, decent amount of floral notes. Good mouthfeel. Light and well balanced Finish: more leather and oak. Rye spice 6 on the t8ke scale. MSRP is steep. Its tasty but it shoild be competing with 1910 and woodford DO. Despite the low proof, michters always manages to squeeze everyone oht of flavor that it can

Thanks @twostal! Nose of leather, pecan pie, brown sugar, praline, pear, charcoal, oak, apple and roasted nuts. Sweet and tart taste, with flavors of pecan pie, leather, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oak and spiced pears. Spicy toasted finish. This really smells decadent and wonderful, with distinct sweet and sour elements on the palate. Nice!

Nose: grainy and sweet nutty Palette: cherry and smoke up front, not overly sweet, but more cherry and chocolate that fades to some rye spice notes like mint and star anise. Finish is medium in length and has some marshmallow creaminess with a prettier bite. Some more smoke trails the finish. Extremely sippable abs easy to drink. Fun one!

On the nose I get barrel char, maple, and brown sugar. On the palate I get all of those smells in taste form. It's rich, smooth, and heavily toasted, you can feel the viscosity. The finish is nice and long, not an alcohol bite, but instead a lingering spice from the toast. Overall not bad.
