A "zöldalmás" whisky. *** The "green apple" whiskey. This dram doesn’t give us great world solutions, nor does it want to. It shows rather floral and light vanilla notes, typical of Nikka. Even if being a NAS, it seems to be a pretty young blend to me. They say it's a "peated blend" - I say I certainly don't feel any trace of smoke. Light and airy on the palate, fruity and floral; the finish seems to be about to linger, but then it suddenly disappears - like a pretty face on the subway. Regardless, it shows a surprising body compared to a plain 40%er. It doesn’t want to look more than it is: a lovable, not complicated at all, dessert grain whiskey, you can safely go for a cocktail with. Unfortunately it is colored (minus half a star). Dry test: close to nothing, unsurprisingly.

I was about to write this review and i just saw this is supposed to be a "peated" blend? It has no peat on it! (At least i did not detect it). Ok, back to my review, this is Nikka Days, a blended japanese whisky, from Miyayiko and Yoichi distilleries (which belong to Nikka), which happens to be one very sweet dram. Bottled at 40%abv, light gold. On the nose, welcome to chocolate. Creamy milk chocolate; Chocolate milk powder. Some grain whisky is rising after a couple of minutes; maize. Vanilla; super sweet but appealing. The creaminess is amazingly suitable for this type of sweet profile. Tiramisu dessert and ground coffee. On the palate, the same. Milk Chocolate, Vanilla. It has a gingery note. Nice creamy dram. Marshmallow. Harmless. Aftertaste follows the rythm of the dram.Grain whisky is ghostly which is good here. Chocolate powder and creamy vanilla. Not too complex but very gentle. Hazelnut. Overall, this is the easiest drinkable whisky ever; way too nice and gentle. The grain whisky actually adds depth to a simple dram because it gives you a creaminess that you won' find in a single malt, but here all the off-putting profiles from grain whiskies are not present. You won't ever say a chocolate is bad, that is why this whisky works, because it is a liquid chocolate. My score is a fair 84 over 100, for the price, this is a great offering for an everyday dessert whisky.

Nose - floral scents, hint of orange, light burn in the nose Taste - floral and vanilla that tapers off Finish - moderate length with some carryover from the taste, not much else here, little to no burn Score - 3.0, not much of a statement in this one, but nothing necessarily bad. Maybe if the ABV was higher (currently at 40%) it would be more vibrant. Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate

Nose: pear, sweet apple, vanilla, citrus zest. Bit of rich wood varnish as it opens (in a good way). Biscuit part of a cheesecake, whatever that’s made out of. Palate: malty/grainy, salted nuts, bit of smoke, some suntan lotion sweetness. Quite thin becoming fuller as it opens, but has some interesting burnt leaf notes, burnt vanilla. Creme brûlée I guess. Not too fruity to me, more barley sugar. Finish: doesn’t stick around for too long, but has some maltiness to it. More of the charred notes linger as time goes on. Overall: not nearly as underwhelming as I expected it to be! I actually quite like this! Nice wisps of smoke and salty notes that I wasn’t expecting.

A delicate, Japanese Blended Whisky by the Yoichi Distillery in Japan made with a blend of grain Whiskies. It has an aromatic birth with notes of white flowers, orange blossoms, hints of lemon, apple & pear; while a rich life adds notes of vanilla, toffee, roasted nuts, peat, cereals & malt; that led to a short & dry death with hints of coffee, vanilla, malt & apricots. July 2019 / August 2022

Its light and sweet with the peat popping sprite-like on the tongue. An excellent 'scotch' and soda. After drinking lots of bourbon and high-proof whiskies this sings and bounces rather than hits. It's got a much stronger set of legs than expected and this fullness gives it weight in the mouth that exceeds its proof as a sipper.
