Only a handful of first-fill ex-bourbon barrels were selected for this vintage release from Old Pulteney, by distillery manager Malcolm Waring. This release from one of the most Northern distilleries in Scotland, was originally intended for Travel Retail only when it was announced in 2017. Currently it is enjoying a wider availability.

I sampled this at Heathrow last week and was very impressed. Rich, flavorful and different enough from the 12 to justify its existence. Almost broke my resolve to hold off buying bottles for a while.
The first-fill bourbon barrel delivers intense vanilla and roasted nuts alongside Pulteney's typical sea spray and light fruitiness. Definitely a bang-for-buck bottling.
