Enjoyed it for a blend and used it as a mixer. Not one I would sip but for Pina Colinas, I enjoyed it. Not sure if the Purple bottle is the same but a solid rum for the price.
About this bottle
Named after Owen Madden, a famous rum bootlegger/ smuggler in New York during Prohibition. Today Owney’s rum is made “above board” from all natural, non-GMO molasses sourced from Florida and Louisiana. The molasses has only been partially refined leaving a fairly high sugar content and the mash is fermented over a five day period and is bottled without barrel aging. All of this takes place at The Noble Experiment Distillery in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
