About this bottle
Penderyn is actually the first Welsh Distillery in more than a century, picking up on a whisky-making tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. Since selling their first product in 2004, the Penderyn Distillery has remained the most prominent distillery in Wales. Their still is a custom-built copper pot that can reach 92% ABV on the first run. Penderyn Sherrywood departs from the distillery's traditional Madeira wine finish, with the malt going into ex-oloroso sherry casks for its final maturation period after first being aged in ex-bourbon barrels. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.

Bright, unique, fruity, warm mouthfeel, high pitched, a little brine?, salt, pomegranate, different. First welsh whiskey, it’s interesting and would be an excellent dessert whiskey. Mouthfeel lingers and lights up the tastebuds. Some tannins come through.
N: sherry notes, but not that dark. It is like berries and pear. Cinnamon. Little bit of alcohol burn. P: very gentle forward, then honey sweetness, mouth coating. Nuts. F: sweet, spicy, little bit drying. Nutty. Savoury.
Sensational! A massive sherry bomb 💣 lovely sweet fruits on the palate followed by a beautiful long finish. Being welsh I’m very biased towards this distillery anyway, but this is superb
slightly spicy and the Sherry is noticeable. unfortunately it's a bit thin overall and the flavors don't compare well to many scotches aged in similar casks
This is really smooth with subtle vanilla notes. Thankful that isn't overbearing. Huge apple presence for me. I like this low cost single malt from Wales.
