About this bottle

This is the 3rd release in the brand's Cooper Series that pairs whiskey with wine casks from around the world. It started as a 6 year-old straight rye whiskey that matured in new, charred American oak before an 11 month period spent in ex-Tokaji wine casks from Hungary.

Zachary Robbins 4.3

Blend of 4-5 year old MGP bourbon Finished in Tokaji casks for 9 months 56.5% abv; 113.0 proof Received a 2 oz sample from a friend Nose - Brown sugar, butterscotch, vanilla, Maraschino cherry, blackberry, medium oak, and medium ethanol. Palate - Citrus oils, black pepper, brown butter, raisin syrup, spiced apple, and sweet oak. Finish is medium-long with syrupy sweet oak, sticky brown sugar, light black pepper, cookie batter, nutmeg, and light ethanol. I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, there isn't much information out there. In general I don't like finished bourbon, but this is actually really good! My issue with red wine or port finished bourbons is the artificial fruit note takes over the palate. The Tokaji finish adds syrupy fruit and sugars, but not enough to disguise the original bourbon flavors. If I see this in the wild I may have to grab myself a bottle.

Nose- deep plum, red grapes and craisins. floral notes and the faintest bit of marshmallow Taste- deep red berries, stone fruit, sugary strawberry jam. Rye spice on the backend, really well balanced Finish- medium, slightly tannic and a great mix of spicy sweetness A home run from Penelope that balances the boldness of 95% MGP rye with the dessert wine sweetness of Tokaji wine.

Wow! Sweet and bright out of the gate. The tokaji is very prevalent. Great wine character with the beautiful funk yielding similar notes as a Brett sour beer. Beautiful.

Shocking how sweet and light this is. Definitely can taste the impact the wine casks did. Almost added a honey taste to it which i loved!

Tastes earthy. Like a shitty 4 year rye Willett. Poo poo.
