The nose is somewhat mild with charred oak, earthy rye spice, dried flowers, vanilla and sweet notes of molasses. It comes off as refreshing, albeit a bit young. It remains pleasantly spicy as it breathes, giving the impression the sip is going to be somewhat simple. The palate is soft but full of earthy rye spice that coats most of the mouth but doesn't quite make it to the corners. There are faint notes of dried flowers coming in behind, but this remains spice dominant. It doesn't evolve much beyond the spice, but that doesn't take away how nice and easy it is to sip on. For a an uncomplicated rye, this is it. The finish is medium and spicy, soon fading away without anything to back it up. It is a bit of a letdown, but not unexpected considering the palate was so simple.
