Riverboat Rye Whiskey

First Tasting (Bottle Opening Batch #5) Smell: very heavy rye front, bit of soap smell, I want to say a bit musty, maybe a bit pine?,  Snifter: sorta spicy, honestly a bit musty, def rye, a bit harsh, it honestly tastes young, the faintest of vanilla,  On ice: sweetens up a buuuuunch, vanilla comes out, rye is still there and much much more mellow in musty notes, maybe some cinnamon notes?,  Drink Rec: Sazerac, I think the rye and mustiness would pair well with the absinthe Verdict: Try It: There are certainly better ryes but this is a style/kind of rye that I experience every so often that I feel like people need to experience to truly appreciate the style of rye whiskey

Was looking for a quick/cheap rye to share at work, but also something that I've not had before. At $22 this won, but I was skeptical. Unsurprisingly this rye has a very light body (it basically evaporates once it hit the palate) and as a result the flavors are hard to gather. Definitely floral and definitely young.

Although my bottle doesn’t look like the one figured, I do believe it is the same whiskey. Nose: Apple, spice. Mouth: nice sweetness, fairly smooth. Not as much spice as most ryes. Late palette has a crisp apple note.

I was looking for a non-scotch whiskey to mix with soda. This fit the bill perfectly. It also is enjoyable with ice. Is it complex? No. But sometimes simplicity is good. And you can't beat the price.

Nice light spicy/clove nose. Smooth and sweet on the palate. This one is 90 proof but seems more like 80. At $20 this is a great standby rye for mixing of sipping.

Nose - bread and barrel Taste - bread, wheat, a slight cinnamon apple flavor but that flavor is watered down. Pretty smooth for a rye whiskey.
