About this bottle

Tahonas are used in the Roca collection from Patrón, which launched in the summer of 2014. Tahonas (two ton stones) are used to gently crush cooked agaves. Both the fibers and juice from the crush are used in both the fermentation and distillation process. Their añejo is aged in single-use American ex-bourbon barrels for 14 months. It is bottled at 88 proof.

My grandparents were suddenly convinced that tequila was a miracle health product... Ironic considering that most Americans get to know tequila through friends at parties... and I try it thanks to my grandparents. But lets get back to the drink, this is quite nice, however I firmly prefer the Silver, the bourbon cask aging creates an unusual funky contrast... That I loath... but that also appeals to me. The bourbon cask offers corn sweetness, medicinal rye and light oak spice that is so strange against the backdrop of smooth agave, creamy sweetness, maple syrup notes and texture, vegetable flavours and those subtle perfume notes. I think the Silver version is better, but both are good.

An Agave Spirit crafted using the "Tahona" process & aged for around 14 months. It has an aromatic birth with notes of cooked agave, fruit, wood, spice, mushroom & raisin; while a fruity life adds notes of pineapple, grapefruit, wood, nut & hints of citrus, ginger, black pepper, caramel & vanilla; that led to an earthy death of medium length. Good stuff. Lots of citrus, agave, and pepper on the nose along with barrel notes of caramel and vanilla. Smooth but Vanilla a bit artificial and Finish is short.

Tastes of anise and fruity and spicy. Smells like licorice and spices. Good but not great

sparawan 4.5

Works great for Añejo old fashions and as a good sipping tequila.
