The nose is immediately rye, but a mix of both floral and sweet. Green apple comes out along with charred oak, as does vanilla sweet cream and hints of black pepper and brown sugar. The palate is initially gentle with the rye spiciness building up into a pleasantly tame experience along with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Charred oak and pepper follow while the vanilla and brown sugar stay pretty mild. The flavors mostly stay around the front of the mouth and middle of the tongue, but come together a very well balanced way making for a lovely rye. The finish is medium with a lingering taste of rye and black pepper, while oak and vanilla fade behind it.
