The Peaky Blinders was a street gang who used razors in their berets to blind their enemies in a surprising way. A very famous tv series have picked this story and made a bunch of seasons which are spectacular. I truly believe this rather new whiskey is taking advantage of the name made by the tv series to boost their sales. But... is the whiskey any good? It actually is! On the nose, i really, really, really (that is 3 "really"s in one phrase) liked it. Starts with a nice creamy chocolate aroma, a thick vanilla, some gooseberries. Very creamy and buttery, actually pretty appealing. Chocolate Fudge, a dim and super interesting pepper spice. Cocoa powder. Nesquik chocolate powder formula. Bananas. Incredible aroma. Banana ice cream. After a first sip, it gave me freshly baked brownies. Sweet cooked bananas. On the palate, a creamy vanilla. A little watery, super smooth, you can hold it forever. Slight oak spice, marshmallow. There is a ghostly maize somewhere. Very easy to drink, not complex at all. Aftertaste is short and very straightforward but somehow it seems to work fine. A nice wood smoke. I really dig this boat wood smoke. A little grainy. Overall, this was a very surprising whiskey. I expected nothing and this really surprised me, the nose was so good i gave it a perfect score. The palate is enjoyable and aftertaste is a small capsule, but a good one. My score for it is 84 over 100 which is totally unexpected for a $35 irish whiskey. Very nice.

I first bought a couple bottles produced in 2019 and was very impressed with this budget Irish blend. The sherry casks really delivered a fine whiskey. The bottles had the cork covered with black wax... Fast forward a few months and I was back at the same retailer buying a restyled bottle (produced in May 2020) without the wax on the cork. The owner assured me it's the same whiskey, but it's clearly something very different and basically undrinkable. I imagine this is something that will go down hard even with a coke, although I couldn't force myself to actually try. I thought I might have gotten unlucky with a bottle, but a second one bought by a friend at another store proved to contain the exact same vile liquid... Stay away from this so-called whiskey unless you can find a good old bottle with the wax on top!
Peaky Blinder Blended Irish Whiskey might be the worst whiskey I've ever tasted. Supposedly there's blackcurrent and apple on the palate, but the nose and palate is so vile that it almost tastes like sewage water. I don't know whether I've had the bad luck of buying a bottle from a bad batch, or if the whisky itself is bad; I tend to think the latter. Stick to Jameson if you want a good blended Irish whiskey. It's frustrating as I tried Peaky Blinder at a bar once and I thought it was pretty good, which was the reason I bought a bottle. Turns out that at that bar, I was drinking a version that was aged in Sherry casks; the bottle that I bought was aged in Bourbon casks (it also had a different bottle design). Unfortunately, in the Netherlands you can currently only get the latter version.
Surprisingly better than expected, was thinking that it was just a low value whiskey trying to capitalize on the peaky blinders brand but it goes down well, it's nothing to phone home about but at least you don't end up thinking you got scammed.
It has some kind of artificial taste. Nose: pretty fruity, but that's it. Palate: Dark fruits, sweet rubber. Quickly disappears. For this price point you get what you pay for.
Nose: uninteresting, weak Taste: smooth but nothing interesting Finish: slow finish that does end with a sweetness tat is nowhere in the nose or taste.
