The nose is immediately full of earthy rye spice and charred oak, backed up by vanilla, brown sugar, molasses sweetness, dried flowers, and touches of smoke and leather. This is a wonderful expression of rye, with so many rich notes to discover that all stand out on their own. The palate is slightly dry, rich and full, and opens with a burst of earthy rye spice, charred oak, dark chocolate, and notes of baking spices, vanilla and brown sugar in the background. It is incredibly well balanced with the oak gear and spicier notes in the foreground as the sweeter notes are in the background. This amounts to an absolutely incredible experience of rye whiskey. At an age of 7 years in 3 months, this tastes slightly above It's age, living wonderfully at a sweet spot for this barrel. The finish is long, rich and slightly chewy, with lingering spice, oak and dark chocolate that keep the mouth full of flavor as it seemingly stays as long as you would like.
