Sagamore Spirit Duchess Finish Rye (Roc Elite finished in ginger mead barrels)

The nose starts off sweet yet a little spicy. You definitely do get hints of ginger mixed with oak. There is also a little bit of a vanilla in brown sugar sweetness. The rye spiciness is very discreet and gentle in this, you can get the impression that it's there but in quantities that compliment the other notes rather than overpowering it with a burst of rye immediately upfront. The palate is slightly dry yet rich in chewy. Ginger and rye spice immediately flood the mouth all the way to the corners. They are excellent and complimenting each other; two flavors that absolutely go wonderful together. There are notes of oak with sweeter notes of vanilla, brown sugar and mead. The finish is long, slightly spicy and chewy. It is absolutely beautiful to savor after every sip. What you get on the palate exactly matches what you taste and the flavors linger and linger and leave you wanting another sip.
