About this bottle

The reposado, "rested" two months in 10,000 gallon vats called pipones, takes on a pale straw color. It is made from 100% agave which is double-distilled, the first time in a column-still and the second in a stainless steel pot-still.

The nose isn't too strong, but it is present with prickly spice, gross bread, some mild dirt, a bit of vegetation, and some sweet tropical fruit like banana, mango, and maybe pineapple. The palate is oddly spicy like it has jalapeño in it - no joke, it has some of that jalapeño flavor too. It has a fairly sweet fruity backing like mango with pineapple and a little banana. It's almost like a variation on a margarita in its own right. The earthiness blends right into the jalapeño, though it does bring out a bit of that Sauza tobacco smoke as well. There's actually a fair amount going on here and it doesn't really taste like gross bread. It is surprisingly numbing though. Some mineral does come out and it is a little light for an aged tequila, but it's within the acceptable range for sure. This is a clear improvement on Sauza Blue: it has less alcohol, more interest, and less ashtray. It's super fruity though. It's comparable to Lunazul, though it's a bit edgier in its style. It isn't as rich and varied as Cabeza Blanco, though it doesn't take the same amount of risk in jamming its flavors together. It certainly tastes light for a reposado and it turns out that it actually is since it only ages for 2 months.

Not fancy, but it doesn’t pretend to be. It hits like a memory, warm, slightly sweet, then sharp enough to remind you you’re still alive. Especially if youre doing shots. Alone or with friends. A little smoky, a little reckless. Goes down smooth, but leaves a bite that lingers like someone you shouldn’t text back but end up doing it anyway if you dont drink responsibly. Perfect for late nights, bad decisions, and good stories. PS: I see this more as an introvert drink, or when going out with your partner or to catch up with that one close friend. Thats my take. Its honestly an AMAZING choice for margaritas regardless.

I don't know from Tequila so I won't rate this; I bought it for Early May cultural appropriation and because I had a margarita a few weeks ago and was in the mood for one. It's salty, with that bitter cactus/agave stuff. Now that I can handle the burn of a 40% dram, it's not as intimidating as it was a year ago. The finish is bitter and tart citrus: lemon/lime. Pleasant, and the salty tartness finishes with a pleasant pucker.

In our home, this is our go-to Tequila for Margies. We like an earthy Margarita, so we almost always mix with bit of Mezcal, ... and, always make our Margaritas with raw, organic agave nectar (cut 50/50 with water) - not simple syrup - for added depth.

Very similar to El Jimador Reposado. Good sweet roasted agave flavour but unrefined with a decent peppery bite. Not bad but better suited to mixing. $36 in Ontario.

Peppery and fruity... Great midlevel tequila and for the cost it's amazing. Works well for a Margarita or an old fashioned... Or just a few rocks.
