The black colour is a nice gimmick. When tonic is added it turns into a very nice purple colour. It has a pleasant fruity smell. The taste is fruity and floral. Tastewise it's decent, but not top tier for me.
About this bottle
This New Zealand gin is the brain child of Scapegrace founders Mark Neal and Daniel McLaughlan. It is made with standard gin botanicals as well as a combination of local sweet potato, aronia berries, pineapple and saffron, and butterfly pea flower—the component that adds the dark color when mixed with these other ingredients and heated to the right temperature—sourced from Southeast Asia. It is bottled at 41.6% ABV and available in the U.S. as of September, 2021.

A very interesting expression of Scapegrace, not just a gimmick, very tasty, fruity and floral, not too juniper forward, clearly trendy but serious enough.
Way too sweet. Gimmicky and nowhere near Scapegrace's best. Wouldnt buy again.
