Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey

Have you ever felt like a "black sheep" before? For much of my childhood to young adulthood, I have. As a nerdy science-studying vintage-loving whisky drinker who loves dance, travel, food and art, I didn't fall into conventional categories of cool. One of my favourite things about the whisky/spirits community is connecting with like-minded individuals who celebrate our differences through shared appreciation for high quality pours. Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey branded themselves as such to reflect independence and free themselves from "societies tight and rigid standards". The inspiration for this bottle came from founder Steve Yeng's signature peanut butter and whisky cocktail at his bar in Ocean Beach, CA. Together with his wife Brittany, they brought this vision to life in a way that honours their community of misfits and "black sheep". The nose smells like roasted peanuts laced with gooey toffee. Skrewball is dessert in a glass. Smooth, sweet peanut butter in light, drinkable form coats my mouth and lips with a wisp of tannins. It's like a more tooth-friendly peanut brittle that stays on your palate well after sipping. I'd think of this as being more in a liqueur category. I really appreciate its uniqueness as an ingredient and I would use this sparingly as a digestif, cocktail (...add a little Chambord for PB&J!) or to make a vanilla milkshake more fun. If your go-to candy bar is a peanut butter cup, this bottle should definitely be on your shelf. 6.5/10

A rich, flavored Whiskey by Skrewball Spirits in California. It has a rich & aromatic birth with notes of warm peanuts & honey; while a rich & bold life adds notes of fresh roasted peanuts, toasted rye bread, Butterfingers candy bars, vanilla & a hint of pepper; that leads to an extra-long & thick death with notes of caramel candy & butterscotch. 👃 smells exactly like a chocolate peanut butter protein bar with nuts 🥜 👄 tastes exactly how it smells, not too spicy, smooth and very sweet 🏁 nice finish, no weird after taste.. great whiskey to make a peanut butter milkshake 😋 Inexpensive and worth it, especially if you don’t usually care for drinking whiskey straight.

I wasn’t really expecting much from this and I wasn’t disappointed. Corn syrup laced peanut butter with a young whiskey alcohol burn. It may drink hotter than 70 proof. I am glad I bought the 50 ml as at $31.99 for a 750 ml it is overpriced .

Peanut. Thats all. One glass its all cooool. After that its like, “Hey pal, cool it with the peanut butter.” Three glasses and you wake up microwaving a sphere of some sort because you accidentally took a ambien.

Overly sweet. May work better in a mixed cocktail possibly. Definitely tasted of peanut butter, but could tell it was covering a harsh base whiskey flavor. Glad I only purchased a miniature bottle.
