Aromas of sweet, dark fruit. Cherry. Plum. Raspberry. Bubble gum. Some spice. Clove. Light cinnamon. Flavors tended more to spice up front. Hot cinnamon candy. With a cherry background. Then the alcohol heat hits. The finish is a tingly cherry cough syrup with a sweeter fruit aftertaste where I detected some plastic. It’s all over the place really.
This 80 proof variant has a clear, caramel appearance, with uniformed alcohol legs. The aroma is of cherry, assorted spices, and faint bourbon. The flavor is of those elements, with oak barrel. The body is medium, and Southern Comfort Black finishes medium long. RJT
Southern Comfort Black is a better version of Southern Comfort. The aromas of dried stone fruit, caramel, and sweet fruit cake are pleasing. The sweet entry has a palate of fruit cake. The sweet finish is ginger and baking spices.
