Starward Australian Whisky Single Cask Release

Tried 2 awesome single casks. A 2019 French oak red wine cask for Astor wines at 55.4% abv and a 2020 American Oak Red Wine Cask for Drammers Club at 55.5% abv. Both mostly tasted similar even though the Astor Wines Cask pick was a bit spicer and more armagnac like while the Drammers Club cask pick was sweeter and more dessert wine like. Starward 2019 Astor Wines Cask Nose: Sour Cherries, Strawberries, Raspberries, Milk Chocolate, Raisins, Prunes, Peaches, Figs, Dates, Red Apples, Leather, Coffee, Dark Chocolate, Ginger, Oranges, Licorice, Bananas, Coconut Palate: Raisins, Figs, Prunes, Toffee, Dates, Cherry Cola, Milk Chocolate, Red Apples, Nutmeg, Hazlenuts, Almonds, Tobacco, Violets, Cloves, Licorice, Ginger Finish: Pepper, Nutmeg, Dark Chocolate, Raisins, Strawberries, Coffee, Vanilla, Prunes, Sultanas, Dates, Figs Starward Drammers Cask Nose: Milk Chocolate, Raisins, Raspberries, Anise, Coffee, Raisins, Sultanas, Figs, Dates, Sour Cherries, Toffee, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Walnuts, Coconuts Palate: Raisins, Figs, Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Raspberries, Dates, Prunes, Coffee, Nutmeg, Walnuts, Red Apples Finish: Raisins, Figs, Dark Chocolate, Red Apples, Prunes, Dates, Coffee, Toffee, Red Apples, Coconuts

Tastes more aged than it is. Pretty complex flavors going on, with the wine barrel aging. Sort of a blend of a bourbon and a port.

Little bit winey. But pretty good overall

Big spices. A little harsh and dry.
