Love the nose- first thing I got was dark chocolate with rasberries/ red berries, then honey, some oak and a good dollop of caramel. Tatste wise it was fruity with some vanilla, mint, red currants but all very quick, it seems this is not the main part of show everthing vanishes to be replaced a medium to longish finish of oaky spiciness with a metallic tang (whisky showing it's youth perhaps?) and waft of charred smoke. I like a lot of what's going on, but a little disorienting a ride.
About this bottle
Sixteen kilometers inland from the Twelve Apostles, you'll find a micro-distillery reminiscent of days gone by. Proprietor of the "Railway Shed" Tim Marwood has decreed that he will make whisky in the tradition of the locals; "The scale of our production is relative to the niche market for our spirit, our aim is quality not quantity". Timboon's still was made in Tasmania, and is almost a scaled down version of what you might find at the Macallan distillery in Scotland. The barrels are sourced from Victoria, Tasmania and Rutherglen, and while the whisky matures, Tim tries his hand at a range of liqueurs. The whiskies are sold in 200ml or 500ml sized bottles.

Great fruity/green apple nose which complements the port barrel really well. Tastes like the distiller had the finish in mind when they made it
