About this bottle

Stronachie was Highland distillery which operated between the 1890s and 1928, represented by A.D. Rattray Ltd. Though the distillery remains shuttered, the company has replicated Stonachie malts, based on an original sample. The 10 year release coincides with what would have been its 110th anniversary.

nmatuschak 3.8

A lighter, non-peaty Scotch that interestingly smells more like a Cognac on the nose. The grapey, winey flavors are there on the palate too, along with notes of grass and corn. And despite being lighter in color, it has a pretty solid body and a nice long finish. This is the kind of bottle that would be a great gift because I really can’t see anyone who even somewhat likes Scotch disliking this, even if it doesn’t stand out in any one particular area.

Tedchainz 3.3

This particular dram was fairly easy to sip for me. It didn't have some of the Scotch flavors I find challenging. Although enjoyable, it was not special. It felt a little thin and the mouth feel was not very satisfying. The nose on this delicate little dram was golden delicious apple and honey. When you taste it, it felt thin, but creamy. The overwhelming flavor on this is a very generic brand of sweet. Over all not bad and not great IMO.

AnttiRG 4.5

An elegant, Single Malt Scotch Whisky by the Benrinnes Distillery in Highland, Scotland aged for 10 years. It has an aromatic birth with notes of heather, malt, fresh biscuits & honey; while a rich & spicy life adds notes of lemon, almond, toffee, shortbread, grain & spices; that led to a long & balanced death with notes of butter, malt &, caramel. Exelixi 4.0

Light aroma, grain and honey. Same flavors on the tongue, with a very mild spice. Super sweet honey dominates. Spice grows on the tail, gives it a nice tingle. Medium to light body and richness. Touch of creaminess.

lytnin 3.5

Grain honey and citrus aroma. Honey caramel in the swallow. Kind of rosemary/cough syrup lingers in the finish. A couple of drops of water opens up buttered biscuits in the aroma and more honey in the flavor.

kandrew1 3.3

Reminds me of Balvenie 12 on the nose--balanced fruit, sweetness, and spice. Medium to light body with tart apples. Finish is short with some burn. Starts better than it finishes, but not bad.
