When I first began exploring the Irish whisky scene, I purchased this bottle and was immediately struck by its distinctiveness compared to anything I had tried before. My friend and I spent a long time exploring its aromas, which were a departure from the typical shortbread and butter notes. Instead, it greeted us with a complex blend of red berries, cranberry ginger ale, cordial, lemon-lime soda, and the syrup from a jar of Maraschino cherries—remarkably sweet and inviting. On the palate, these vibrant aromas translated seamlessly into flavors, continuing the cornucopia of notes to the sense. This consistency from nose to palate enhanced its allure and coherence, delivering a satisfying experience with a pleasant malt funk. The mouthfeel was slightly lacking, however. The finish was notably long, leaving lingering impressions of sweet berries dipped in milk chocolate. The multitude of wine finishes on this bottle came through prominently, creating a beautiful and uniquely flavorful bouquet. Rating: 3.75/5

On the nose vanilla is dominant with hints of sweet fruits. On the pallet waves of different fruits roll in. First Light tastes of citrusfruits with orchardfruits and after that more heavy notes of dried- and forestfruits. The pallet is quite rich in barrelspice and alcoholic bite. Overall very interesting but a bit overpowering to me. Maybe it's one of those whiskies that take multiple tastes to really unlock. This sample felt a bit chaotic and overwhelming. The different tastes aren't really blending together well.
Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Pale amber. Nose: Almonds, plums, raisins. Palate: Some bread and baking spice with oak. Finish: Long length with medium heat. Splash: A fruity, floral note appears. Overall: 8.5/10 - This is a step up for Teeling. The nose is incredible, and maybe with some more time in oak the palate would be as nice.
Let sit for about 5 minutes. 👀: Pale copper notes, substantial legs that stick to the walls; 👃: Baking spices and tannins that linger on the nose, berries, a little effervescent scent, oak; 👅: Ethanol hit at the outset that dissipates, more baking spices, slight marzipan; 🏁: Taste is a bit oily and it lingers.
This was a smal taste of a special Teeling single malt whos name I regretfully can’t remember. Bartender compared the taste to Jenever. It was very herby, and reminded me of potpurri. On the palate it was very sweet and smooth and followed with a funky herby note.Fantastic pour.
