About this bottle

This limited edition expression is part of Teeling's stout cask collaboration series. Previously, Galway Bay Brewery had used Teeling Small Batch whiskey barrels to age its imperial stout. This expression flips the script, with Teeling Small Batch whiskey finished in Galway Bay Two Hundred Fathoms Imperial Stout barrels. It is bottled non chill-filtered at 46% ABV.

Love the experimenting that Teeling is doing in the Spirit of Dublin series. It's more deep gold Heavy spices, the Irish whiskey finish is still present... raisins, perhaps orange... I hazard cocoa. I was double guessing myself, but I thought there was a rum quality to it and low and behold it took a turn in rum barrels and the product definitely took in those flavors. I look forward to having a dram of this in the winter next to a fire.

This is the Galway Bay brewery, stout beer barrel finish version of Teeling Small Batch. For me this finishing brings some chocolatey or coffee taste into the product. Overwrites the harsh spiceyness of the original product, but complexity remains. For me better than the original blended Teeling or the Jameson Caskmates Stout.

Nose: floral honey sweetness Palate: smooth oily texture. Light caramel notes. Finish: at the very end, some faint tannin barrel bitterness. Can't say I can pick out the stout barrel's contribution anywhere. Which is a shame.

Zacht, rozijnen, boterbabbelaar en koffie in de afdronk. Bijzonder.
