This is good! The sherry notes are pronounced. They almost overtake the rye; the rye notes are more subdued. This is a nice addition to the Templeton line.

About this bottle
This is the 3rd expression in the brand's Cask Finish series. This limited edition American straight rye whiskey was originally matured a minimum of six years in first fill American oak flame-charred barrels. The whiskey was then finished in Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months. The 500-liter Oloroso sherry casks were sourced from the Marco de Jerez region of Spain and once contained dry Oloroso sherry aged between eight and twenty years. It is non chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV, with limited availability as of October, 2021.

I really enjoy this offering from Templeton. It’s not mind blowing, but it’s very tasty and easy to drink. I’ll buy another bottle if I see it available.

Lots of sherry notes on the nose. Some hints of baking spices, berries, and sherry on the long finish. This is a nice sipping whiskey!
