About this bottle

Teremana Tequila is a tequila brand founded by Dwayne Johnson, otherwise known as The Rock. The tequila is made from ripe agaves harvested from the Highlands of Jalisco and are roasted in traditional brick ovens for 3 days. After shredding, the agaves are fermented in an open tank and then distilled in copper pot stills. Teremana Añejo Tequila matures in former American whiskey barrels and is bottled at 80 proof. The name means "spirit of the earth"--TERE from the Latin word for "earth" and MANA from the Polynesian word for "spirit." This will begin to roll out in US markets beginning December 2021.

Started as a joke from watching so many Dwayne Johnson commercials during the NHL season on ESPN.. we just had to taste the mana! Went for the Anejo as we typically drink Irish whiskey and Rum. The mana delivered! Copper pot stilled gave a wonderful full body. All the agave citrus sweetness with a hint of smoke, roast and pot still in waves. Our favorite was how viscus the liquid is and how the roast flavor adds to a milk chocolate sweetness. Agave flavor up front.. smoke sweetness with copper pot finish. For the price $45.. it was a solid expression. Will buy Crozo next to see how big that gap is...

I'm not the biggest fan of the Rock, but Distiller gave this a good rating and it was on sale. Dwayne owes you guys a royalty on this one. Nose is orange candy, with some vanilla and a hint of oak. Sweet and watery on the palate, delicious chocolate orange with vanilla and oak. Very little burn. Finish is where things get a bit hot, but it's maintains it's sweetness without being overwhelming. Lemon peel and agave. It's like the Rock requested that his tequila taste like a creamsicle and they delivered. Immensely sippable but also pretty one note with the citrus candy.

A dark character, that is full of self assurance and vigor. We really enjoyed the effect that the ex-whiskey cask aging had on this spirit. Lending a sweetness, and familiar chewiness, this tequila has a lot going on. First a lot of wood, creating a tight and dry entry, then switching to a patina of sweet, yet oaky intensity. There are some notes of butterscotch, caramel and vanilla, but mostly a plethora of wood stave, lending a spicy and toasty sensation on the palate. Definitely designed for sipping, we recommend serving over single large rock of ice.

First uncorking 🍾 Let sit for about 5 minutes. 👀: Pale hay, light sunlight flecks, short legs; 👃: Strong tequila agave smell, sugar cubes, vanilla, not too much nuance; 👅: Starts off with sugary goodness then lends its taste to the Reposado (tastes just like it), not too much nuance, a little dill pickle, citrus, baking soda at the back end; 🏁: Very short finish with some hints of vanilla, a simplistic end to what should have been a great dram, a bit disappointing, Reposado would have been just the same.

New to tequila as a neat taste (usually whiskey drinker) so this is very uneducated review. Nose: vanilla all day long, some hints of orange, but that could have also been the orange garnish before i removed it. Taste: those chocolate break-apart oranges covered in tequila. Finish: short, but pleasant. Not too hot and a good mouth feel. Oily to start, but thins quickly.

I mean, DJ, am I right? Kid knows how to pick a winner! Love that smell of vanilla the Rock has cookin’! Smooth feel, but more looking forward to some extra añejo years from now… The darker the better, right? More golden than amber, but with easy drinkin’ tequila such as this, it’s a worthy addition to the class. * * * *
