Wicked Swill 2.5

These notes are from a blind tasting (Flaviar Advent Calendar) The smell is fresh orchard fruits, green apples, pears, and bananas. You also get some vanilla and candied fruit. Really nice. The taste is almost the reverse of the smell. The cooked fruit and vanilla hit first with some banana entering with a nice bit of clove spice. Not getting the green apples at all that were so heavy on the smell. The finish is pretty short but it’s pleasant enough. Vanilla and cooked red fruits carry it out.  This was enjoyable. The taste didn’t deliver on the smell but that happens sometimes. This isn’t something I would go looking for but if someone gifted me a bottle, I’d happily drink it.  Overall Grade: C   (Average)

A rich, Irish Blended Whiskey by Bernard Walsh for Walsh Whiskey Distillery in Carlow, Ireland crafted with a combination of 70% Single Malt & 30% Single Pot Still Spirits aged in ex-Bourbon casks. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, baked stone fruits, melon, herbs & spices; while a rich & spicy life adds notes of baked apricot & peach, nectarine, honeydew melon, custard cream biscuits dunked in tea, cinnamon sticks, peppercorn, lemon cheesecake, new hay, vanilla & cocoa; that leads to a warm & balanced death of medium length with notes of rancio, rye spice & butterscotch. December 2022 Little more delicate than I remember! December 2024

Day No. 9 Love me a good Irish. This was a pretty solid offering whish is saying a lot considering I've tried and owned all the Spots. A bit lighter and less complex, but quite flavorful overall. I got some stone fruit mixed with grassy/earthy tones. A hint of chocolate came and went as well. Slightly warming with a decent lasting finish.

NOSE The aromas are quite fresh and consist of Zesty spices, hints of white pepper and some green apples and pears. PALATE Some ripe fruits, a hint of vanilla rounded off with some pot still spice (cloves, cracked peppercorn and some nutmeg). FINISH A very long woody finish with some butterscotch and toffee.

Didn't enjoy this much. The smell of baked fruits mingle with an almost sterilness that comes from any recently cleaned hospital room. The taste was slightly better than expected. A single malt Irish whiskey with a bit of spice to finish. Still wouldn't ask for this again to sip or to mix.

Nose initially was apple and vanilla which opened up into toffee and leather. Taste also starts out light and delicate, delivers deeper flavors with spice, leather and toffee. Light slickness in the mouthfeel. Finish is wet hay and spice with lingering caramel.
