True Story is a whiskey brand launched by Wes Henderson, co-founder of Angel's Envy and Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee. This bottling consists of Kentucky straight rye whiskey aged 5-8 years in charred new American white oak barrels that was then finished in Brazilian Amburana wood as well as oloroso & PX wine casks for 2-12 months. Wonderfully diff nose! Very diff mouth feel and back end taste. Moth feel is "dry" and not oilly. I would place this closer to scotch rather than bourbon rye. Could smell this all night and alot to explore on the pallet.
Really cool rye. Tastes how you’d expect an amburana finish to taste… if your grandma’s perfume got invited to the party.
