Volcan Cristalino delivers a unique blend of anejo and extra anejo that is masterfully filtered to leave the slightest nuance of color. On the nose we distinguish fruity strawberry notes, vanilla, black cherries, oak, and roasted agave. The palate provides a strong backbone of roasted agave, chocolate, black cherries, and oak. The mouthfeel is exquisitely smooth and velvety which allows you to roll the tequila on the tongue and experience the slightest of nuances.
About this bottle
Using only Tequila Valley (Lowlands) agave, the production was overseen by master distiller Anna María Romero Mena. The tequila is made from a blend of añejo tequila which ages in former whisky casks and extra añejo tequila which was aged in former cognac barrels. After aging, the liquid remains separated while the color is removed. Before blending, the añejo and extra añejo tequilas are finished with a cask wash in the barrel they were aged in. Meaning "land of the volcano", this tequila is a joint venture between Moët Hennessy and the Gallardo family. Released May 2017 in select US markets. Additive free.

While the process of “hey let’s make an Anejo then filter it so it’s clear like a blanco” confuses me I did enjoy this one. It’s definitely thinner than a traditional Anejo but that’s probably to be expected with the style. A solid sipper but I wouldn’t rush to have another one.
this is an astonishing tequila. super smooth with some smoke and sweet notes. highly recommend it for those new to tequila. totally worth the price
I don't get the hype. I find this tequila cloyingly sweet, almost like an aspartame type taste. Rather disappointed with my purchase.
Interesting. Very good. Flavors of pepper, agave, caramel, fruit, and vanilla.
Delicious. Some citrus mixed with vanilla...on both smell and taste. Smooth!
