Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Apple, caramel, graham cracker, vanilla. Palate: Cinnamon red hots, clove, baking spice. Finish: Medium length with medium heat. Splash: No new flavors are revealed. Overall: 6/10 - I really wanted to like this more than I do. It’s sourced (from Kentucky) but 10 years old and 88 proof. It’s good, but much less so than other 10 year Kentucky bourbons at a similar proof.
About this bottle
This WhistlePig release features a 10 year-old straight bourbon which receives secondary barrel aging in experimental barrels with two toasted heads. The "snout" end is a Vermont oak medium toast while the "tail" end is a Vermont oak smoked maple wood toast. It's bottled at 88 proof — a nod to the 880 miles between the WhistlePig Vermont Farm and Louisville, Kentucky where the WhistlePig PiggyBank brand outpost is opening in spring 2025. Available nationwide beginning January 29, 2025. (SRP $89.99)

Pleasantly sweet, easy-drinking with a good mouthfeel, but somehow overpriced compared to similarly aged Kentucky bourbons offering more character.
At 88 proof, easy drinking straight up. Smooth, nutty, toasty, oaky on the palette, with a slight baking spice finish
Exceptional nose, super smooth. I wish the finish lasted longer
