About this bottle

The Master's Keep limited edition series first started in 2015 and it allows Wild Turkey Master Distiller Eddie Russell to showcase his approach to whiskey making. Aged for 10 years in char #4 new American oak barrels, this is bottled without chill-filtration at 104 proof. Available in limited quantities for on-line pre-sale purchases in early June 2024 and in-store at select retailers ahead of Father's Day 2024. (SRP $275)

Received a sample feom a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Oak, caramel and vanilla, with some minty notes. Palate: Prominent oak with baking spice and more mint. Finish: Medium heat, but surprisingly long for 104 proof. Splash: No new flavors are revealed, but the oak in the palate is subdued by baking spice and that minty note. Overall: 8/10 - This would be a good or even great rye at under $100. At $275 MSRP, I would expect much more bang for the buck. I am glad that I got to try it without spending that much. (Rating not based on value)

Cornerstone was rhe whiskey that got me into Wild Turkey, so I was excited to see another rye-focused Master's Keep Release. 10 year rye (includes up to 12 year) bottled at 104 proof. Dark caramel in glass. Lots of oak and drizzled honey on the nose. Some whiffs of tobacco. Palate is a little thin. Rye spice not extremely pronounced. Some sweetness offset by a bit of lemon. Finish is creamy with lots of pronounced charred oak.

I dont get the herbal flavor i get a rich spicy flavor. Like a high rye bourbon. Think turkey version of the 4R SB. Id consider a second bottle if it were less pricey.
