This is a quintessential Kentucky cask strength rye. The nose was a little muted on the first crack. So I will revisit the nose at a later time. The palate is deep, dark, and rich. It lingers on the palate with all the wonderful rye notes, coupled with dark caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, and a nice chocolate sweetness. Mint and dill show up on the front of the palate. The texture is velvety and viscous. I will definitely use a few pours to experiment with some cocktails. It definitely does not deserve the bad press that it is getting!!!
About this bottle

Nose: anise and licorice, some chicory undertones, molasses Palette: peanut brittle, barrel char, mid palette has mint and that chicory note. Some chocolate and peppermint comes through. Licorice lingers for a while, fading with those chocolate notes. Sits on the tongue nicely, very enjoyable.
Nose: Caramel Taste: For the proof the taste is lacking. I get oak and some light rye spices. Finish: The finish lingers with dark chocolate and berry notes and a little bite.
Good on a cold day. Warms you right up.
