Bull City Bourbon Club pick, "Apryecot Jam" 100% rye mashbill Barrel No. 8337 NAS 57.74% abv; 115.48 proof Open 15 months Nose - Stewed apricots, bright honey, cinnamon candy, caramel, dark cereal grain, cardamon, light oak, and medium ethanol. Palate - Spiced apricot filling, sweet rye bread, clove, pine sap, white pepper, and dry cinnamon. Finish is medium with stale rye bread, dried apricot, My former bourbon club had the name spot on. This tastes overwhelmingly like an apricot cobbler, and little else. I don't know how many people reviewing whiskey have actually eaten fresh apricots. I have. At my friend's farm in Idaho which is covered in apricot trees. Let me tell you, they're not that great. There's a reason why they're not a standalone fruit in most desserts or grocery stores. I'd rather have a peach or nectarine any day of the week. It is pretty fascinating how different 100% ryes are in different regions of the country. Balcones, Dad's Hat, Alberta Premium, all wildly different. This has a unique flavor profile, but it's a one glass and move on type of drink.

Aroma starts woody and crafty but with some nice sweet and spicy notes that try to climb to the top, as it opens it gets quite floral but never overwhelms – kind of an odd and quirky profile; Palate pulls through the woody, spicy and sweet aspects, but surprisingly the floral aspect as well – not an artificial and soapy floral, but a more vegetal floral, like the edible flowers placed on small dishes at fancy restaurants; Finish is easily my favorite part and pulls through a nice balance of sweet, rustic and spicy notes.

Beautiful, dangerously approachable sipper. I enjoyed this, winter tent camping... probably never above 20 degrees Fahrenheit. This is “lose track and never wake up” smooth. I got ours, direct from the distillery, laser engraved for the occasion. The straight rye is tough to find- but we’ll worth it. Sweet, friendly, festive spice. No heat, wonderfully balanced.

(Barrel pick from Brown Jug AK) Lots of flavor and more floral and dark fruit notes than I’ve noticed in most ryes. Nicely balanced w/the oak, vanilla, and spice. Alcohol burn is present but not overwhelming. A splash of water brings out more floral and fruit notes and mutes the ethanol - recommend trying both. Really nice stuff.

the nose has a strong whiff of barnyard funk, mesquite BBQ, sawdust, buttered popcorn, spearmint, vanilla frosting and oak, the palate leads with full, oak that's both green and sweet, rye spice and a touch of honey. The finish is warming spice, grassy and a hint of honey. This is a roller coaster of flavors.

Soooooo much spice. All spice all the time. Wood from the cask strength too. It's a little one note on its own, but this would be fantastic in a cocktail, so much flavor.
