About this bottle

Bull Run Distillery, located in Portland, Oregon, produces this small batch whiskey. Made from 100% malted barley, Bull Run ferments a wash made by Burnside Brewing using ale yeast. The liquid is then aged in new American char oak barrels for 4 years. Water from the Bull Run Watershed is added and this bourbon is bottled at 44.54% ABV.

The bottle I got is aged 6 years, there is no listing for that. VERY interesting whisky, the malt really comes through but the new charred oak finish gives it some bourbon notes. This almost has a cherry cola thing going on. An excellent dram!

I like the malt, but there are some odd (for me) herbal notes. Not sure if that is from the yeast or what exactly. Batch 1, bottle 3462. Will need to try another batch.

Tart cherry nose with a little of that reedy young wood varnish sass on the palate, which I like. Sweet vanilla finish with some lingering savor. Viva Cascadia!

Straight up great! Need to get again. Had a bottle when I mainly drank it with cokes. Looking back, it was a shame, ha.

The 5 year is a great example of Oregon Single Malt. Very smooth with great texture.

Notes of pear and apple, rich herbaceous body with a dry complex tea-like finish.
